The “mail order bride” phenomenon is several decades old, but with Internet communications revolution it has become increasingly popular, although not yet exactly commonplace. These days a far lesser-known phenomenon has appeared- mail order grooms.

Until very recently, mail order grooms were almost non-existent, which by contrast pretty much kills the idea that mail order brides are interested only in green cards. After all, if that’s what the women wanted, then why aren’t there just as many Chinese and Ukranian mail order grooms seeking in a new life a Western country?

The mail order husband groom industry is still in its developmental stage. Stage One was an increase in the number of foreign women living in the US looking for mail order grooms from the Old Country. Stage Two was unhappy American women, sick of us American men, looking for mail order grooms – but they found little help on the Internet until just the last few years. But now here comes Stage Three – an increase in men from poor countries, especially India, marketing themselves as mail order grooms

It is still far too early to determine exactly what types of men choose to market themselves as mail order grooms. Their profiles naturally tend to stress family values and hard work, and some claim not to be at all concerned about beauty. But just as is the case with mail order brides, it’s difficult to imagine the prospect of a green card not figuring in somewhere in the considerations a prospective mail order husband.

It will be interesting to see how the unique dynamics of such relationships work out. First, will a situation where the woman makes more money than the man (in most cases) weaken or strengthen the marriage (or have no effect whatsoever)? Second, will men from male-dominated cultures have trouble getting along with relatively independent-minded American women?

The first owner welcomed him back, went over the attributes of the animal again, and restated how it was reasonably priced and just the right size. The second owner had a slightly different approach. He said the following, “Look, I want you and your daughter to be completely happy with the horse. I don’t want you to buy it under any other circumstances, so here’s what I suggest. I’ll deliver the horse round to your premises this afternoon, together with enough food to last a couple of weeks.”

The seller continued, “Let your daughter ride the horse, get used to it and decide whether they’re going to get along together. Come back and see me in two weeks. If the horse isn’t right for you just let me know and I’ll call round and pick it up. No fuss, no hard feelings. If she likes it, as I think she will, bring your cheque book, and you can pay for the horse then.”

Which horse do you think the man bought? It’s not difficult to guess, is it?

A Technique Adaptable To Any Business

3. The Traditional Wife

This type makes a stable spouse and a great mother. She is usually from a conservative background, often rural or working class. She is not usually highly educated. A Traditional Wife has dreamed of marriage and children as long as she can remember. She will gladly clean, cook, raise your children, and “do her wifely duty”. Many men find this type to be satisfactory, even ideal.

A word of warning to the romantically inclined – may find this type to be less than ideal, to put it mildly. Although a Traditional Wife places great emphasis on the institution of marriage, it is the role of wife and mother along with its social status that she wants, not romantic love. Indeed, many Traditional Wives want to get married “to have kids”. Period. After a while you may end up wondering if she would be happy if you moved alone to Fiji and mailed her a sperm sample and a paycheck each month.

4. The Hopeless Romantic

This one is the all-time favorite, the woman that everybody seems to be looking for. Take her to see “The Titanic”; she’ll cry. If you want a wife who is ruled by her heart, this is the type for you.

The Hopeless Romantic type comes in two sub-varieties: the Angel; and the Infatuation Junkie. Infatuation Junkies are usually very young. What you are likely to get is a sexy, passionate ball of fire, but be careful – such marriages tend to be exciting but unstable. If you can get through the tumult of the marriage’s early years, however, she might just mature into a wife who values romantic love yet is able to tell the difference between real love and raging harmones – an Angel, in other words. If that happens, thank your lucky stars because you are luckier than most.
